Bridging the Political Divide: Civic Dialogue in a Time of Fracture

In Fall 2018, I conducted two workshops as part of the Center for Ethical Leadership's "Uncommon Conversations" series. The programs were informed by the Center's foundational concept, Gracious Space.

Facilitating these sessions allowed me to rehearse my upcoming research on political antagonism. I plunged straight into questions dear to my heart: Under what conditions do ideological opponents most readily experience their underlying shared humanness? And how might the reimagination of such circumstances articulate openings in our present-day divides?

I have been training for years to carry out this facilitation and research. That training has come most recently through Jim Henderson's and Jim Hancock's 3Practices.
